“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” (James 1:2-4)
I love the words, Count it all Joy! When I am going through a trial I don’t feel joyful. I usually have feelings of disappointment, defeat, or failure.
I have realized that when I feed into those feelings, I cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. I feel like this trail is in a downwards spiral into a black whole that will never end!
How to overcome the trial
So instead, I try to focus on what God is trying teach me in the trial. I will be a stronger person when I overcome it!
I understand that a trial is not a punishment from the Lord, but a test! I would define a test as an opportunity to see who you are becoming in Christ. If we avail ourselves to these trials we must know that it will produce steadfastness, which will result in spiritual maturity!
So, that is why we must count it all joy, when facing trials!
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for these scriptures that I can turn to when facing trials of many kinds. Knowing that I am not alone, and that you are with me guiding me along the way! I want to produce a steadfastness so that I can endure whatever else life throws my way. I want to count it all as joy, knowing that you are just continuing to help me grow in my spiritual maturity and wisdom, beyond my years! And that I may be able to help others in the future as they face trials of their own! I love you Lord, Amen!
